Herbolax Tablet is mainly used for the treatment of constipation. It is used as a gentle bowel regulator. It is used as a laxative (enhances bowel movement). It increases the water content in the stool and makes them soft, thus increases bowel movement, and cures mild to moderate constipation. It is also used as the carminative (reduce flatulence) and digestive stimulant (promotes digestion). It treats dyspepsia (indigestion) and gives relief in gas formation in the stomach.
It contains trivruth (Ipomoea turpethum) and chebulic myrobalan (haritaki) as the key ingredients. Here is the health benefit of each of these:
Trivruth (Ipomoea turpethum) has mild laxative action. It is used in constipation and for stomach emptying before radiography. It is also recommended for constipation treatment after surgery and for the non-ambulatory (unable to walk) periods.
Chebulic myrobalan (haritaki) is known in Ayurveda for its laxative property. It activates the intestinal motility and contraction of smooth muscle in the intestine, thereby increasing peristalsis (forward movement of food inside the intestine). It is used for digestive wellness. It is also indicated in diseases such as swelling, urinary disturbances, dermatitis, and uncontrolled fever.
