THIKTHAKAM KASHAYAM;
Mahatiktam Kashayam is an Ayurvedic Formulation used to treat wide range of skin diseases, abscess, non healing wounds and sinuses. It is an herbal decoction preparation, also available in Kashayam tablet form.
Mahathikthakam Kashayam, is an innovative preparation using drugs of Thikthakam Ghrutham (medicated ghee) explained in the Ayurveda classical text Ashtangahrudaya. The drugs of the above Ghrutham made into a decoction.
ROLE OF INGREDIENTS;
Patola (Trichosanthes dioica) - is used as tonic, febrifuge, and in subacute cases of enlargement of liver and spleen; in Charaka Samhita, leaves and fruits are used for treating alcoholism and jaundice. Leaves are used in edema and alopecia. It is also used as antipyretic, diuretic, cardiotonic, and laxative.
Katuka (Picrorhiza kurroa) - has traditionally been used to treat disorders of the liver and upper respiratory tract, reduce fevers, and to treat dyspepsia, chronic diarrhea, and scorpion sting.
Pata (Cyclea peltata) - is used in Indigenous Indian Medicinal systems as a wound healer, an antidote to poisons, and for various digestive, skin and inflammatory disorders.
Parpatakam (Fumaria indica) - is used in aches and pains, diarrhoea, fever, influenza, liver complaints, vomiting, constipation, dyspepsia, blood purification, leucoderma, anthelmintic, diuretic, diaphoretic and, in combination with black pepper, for jaundice.
Duralabha (Tragia involucrata) - has been traditionally used to treat inflammation, wounds, eczema, scabies and skin infections. It has also been found to be effective in treating pain and bronchitis.
Thrayamanam (Bacopa monnieri) - has been used by Ayurvedic medical practitioners for centuries for a variety of purposes, including improving memory, reducing anxiety, and treating epilepsy. In fact, research shows that it may boost brain function and alleviate anxiety and stress, among other benefits.
Musta (Cyperus rotundus) - is a medicinal herb traditionally used to treat various clinical conditions at home such as diarrhea, diabetes, pyresis, inflammation, malaria, and stomach and bowel disorders.
Chandana (Santalum album) - common colds, bronchitis, skin disorders, heart ailments, general weakness, fever, infection of the urinary tract, inflammation of the mouth and pharynx, liver and gallbladder complaints and other maladies.
Kana(Piper longum) - is used traditionally for the treatment of various diseases including; cough, cold, dyspnea throat diseases, intermittent fever, dysentery, stomachache, worms and piles.
Alstonia scholaris - is used to cure skin diseases and rheumatism; the root juice is taken with milk to cure leprosy; fresh bark is put in water to draw out the latex, which is taken orally in case of tuberculosis; dried powder is administered orally to cure diarrhoea; and bark extract is useful in case of intestinal worms.
Cassia fistula - is extensively used by Ayurveda in India in the treatment of inflammatory swellings and as a cleaning agent for ulcers and wounds. It is believed to decrease purulent discharge and act as a local antiseptic. The fruits are also used as a laxative.
Azadiracta indica - is used for leprosy, eye disorders, bloody nose, intestinal worms, stomach upset, loss of appetite, skin ulcers, diseases of the heart and blood vessels (cardiovascular disease), fever, diabetes, gum disease (gingivitis), and liver problems.
Triphala is an excellent herb that helps reduce stomach bloating and relieves constipation issues. Triphala can effectively regulate blood pressure and help maintain optimum levels. Triphala may also promote proper digestion and absorption of food, reduce serum cholesterol levels, improve circulation, relax bile ducts.
Trikatu is an age-old ayurvedic remedy that is extensively used for treating umpteen health problems including indigestion, gastritis, constipation, obesity, asthma, cough and cold, arthritis, infections, ulcers, etc.

INDICATIONS;
Mahathikthakam Kashayam is very effective in skin diseases.

DIRECTIONS FOR USAGE;
Adults can take 15ml Kashayam mixed with 30 ml lukewarm water
Children can take 5 ml Kashayam mixed with 10 ml lukewarm water
Ideal for taking before food.
Dose
Kashaya Choornam
Adults- Boil 50 gm of powder in 400 ml of water and reduce to 200 ml. Take 100 ml twice daily.
Children- 50 ml twice daily
Tablets
Adults- one to two tablets twice daily
Children- 1/2 tablet twice daily
