KUSHMANDA RASAYANA;

Kushmanda Rasayana is a famous Ayurvedic medicine in herbal jam form. It is a nourishing Ayurvedic medicine, used in respiratory conditions, to improve immunity and strength. It is also known by the terms Kooshmanda Rasayana, Kooshmanda Avalaeha, Kushmanda Lehyam, Kushmandavaleha, Kooshmandavaleha, Koosmandarasayanam.

Kushmanda refers to ash gourd, which is the main ingredient of this preparation. Avaleha or Lehyam refers to its herbal jam form. Rasayana – refers to its rejuvenation property.

ROLE OF INGREDIENTS;

Pippali  -  is an effective herb in managing cough and cold. Pippali controls cough, releases mucus, clears air passages, thus allowing the patient to breathe freely. This is because Pippali has decongestant, bronchodilator, and expectorant effects due to its Kapha balancing properties.

Ginger - Zingiber officinale is one of the most widely used natural products consumed as a spice and medicine for treating nausea, dysentery, heartburn, flatulence, diarrhea, loss of appetite, infections, cough, and bronchitis.

white caraway – Jeera - are widely used as the spice for their distinctive aroma, they are also commonly used in traditional medicine to treat a variety of diseases, including chronic diarrhea and dyspepsia, acute gastritis, diabetes, and cancer.

Cinnamon - is used for gastrointestinal (GI) upset, diarrhea, and gas. It is also used for stimulating appetite; for infections caused by bacteria and parasitic worms; and for menstrual cramps, the common cold, and the flu (influenza).

Patra – Cinnamomum Tamala -  is an Ayurveda herb mentioned for the treatment of bad odor from the mouth, black spots on the face, dental caries, swelling, cough, and in complications of tuberculosis.

Cardamom - is used for digestion problems including heartburn, intestinal spasms, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), intestinal gas, constipation, liver and gallbladder complaints, and loss of appetite.

Black pepper -  arthritis, asthma, upset stomach, bronchitis, a bacterial infection that causes diarrhea (cholera), colic, depression, diarrhea, gas, headache, sex drive, menstrual pain, stuffy nose, sinus infection, dizziness, discolored skin (vitiligo), weight loss, and cancer.

Coriander seed - Stomatitis (mouth ulcer ) – Apply juice of Coriander leaves over the ulcers or hold the juice of Coriander leaves in the mouth for 5min.

Honey - is used in the treatment of eye diseases, throat infections, bronchial asthma, tuberculosis, hiccups, thirst, dizziness, fatigue, hepatitis, worm infestation, constipation, piles, eczema, healing of wounds, ulcers and used as a nutritious, easily digestible food for weak people.

BENEFITS;

Kushmanda Rasayana is used in the treatment of bleeding disorders, emaciation, chronic respiratory conditions requiring nutrition and strength, vomiting.

It is usually administered after a person has recovered from a fever, to improve strength.

It is also used along with or after anti-tuberculosis treatment to improve general health, strength, and weight. It helps to minimize the side effects of anti-tuberculosis medications by supporting the liver and improving digestion and providing much-needed respiratory strength.

It brings about rejuvenation, improves strength.

INDICATIONS;

It is used to treat Bleeding disorders.

It is used to treat Emaciation.

It is used to treat respiratory disorders.

It is used to provide strength.

It improves digestion.

It is used to strengthen the liver.

DOSAGE AND ADJUVANTS;

Take 5 – 15 grams to be administered along with water or milk, before or after food, once or twice a day, or at intervals or as directed by an Ayurvedic doctor.

Dosage for children below 5 years of age – 1 – 2 grams, once or twice a day, along with a teaspoon of honey or warm water/milk.

Dosage for children between 5 – 12 years of age – 5 grams once or twice a day along with a teaspoon of honey or warm water/milk.

Take 1 tablespoon, mixed with 1 teaspoon (small spoon) of ghee,  2 times a day after food for 2 months time. Drink half a cup of lukewarm water, after taking ;
